Black Mozart by Raekwon. If you love the Wu Tang Clan, definitely download former member Raekwon’s newest album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx part II. The chorus from “Black Mozart” puts a new spin on The Godfather’s theme song, which is obviously a recipe for success (at least for me).
Crazy for You by Shwayze. If you’re more of a mainstream hip hop fan, Shwayze is probably more your style. The chorus on this song is fun and redundant enough that I can easily see it becoming a drunken anthem at college bars.
Hands by The Almost. I don’t have much to say about this song besides that it’s good, so download it!Funeral Singers by Califone. The critically acclaimed Chicago based rock band Califone created the soundtrack for the indie film All My Friends are Funeral Singers, which is chock full of layered, pretty songs like this one.
The Rain by The Swell Season. Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech singer Marketa Irglova (from the Frames) teamed up for the second time for their new album, Strict Joy. The result is a folksy album that’s perfect for a lazy winter day.
Let it all Hang Out by Weezer. Critics are getting their panties in a bunch over the mainstream sound of Weezer’s newest album, Raditude. To me, the excessively catchy album is just a prank pulled off by frontman River Cuomo, who loves satirizing L.A. excess and torturing his diehard fans. The result may not be as quirky as the usual Weezer fare, but if you don’t like it, just chill out and wait for their next one.
