New Music Wednesday

I’m dooooing iiiiiit.

Time to frickin contribute. Someone needs to put the GRRRRRR in Gronner. Am I right? Well, the reason you don’t hear from my sisters and me is because we are awful at finding new music. I find something and then I find out the rest of the world found it years ago. “Hey guys, I’m really digging on this song called ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’… I think this band has potential!” Ok, I’m not that bad. Anyhoo, here are my current favorites.

Basement Jaxx- They mix with a bunch of awesome people including Kelis, Sam Sparro, Santigold and… Yoko Ono?! The point is that you can’t really go wrong with some UK house music.

Mayer Hawthorne- Sounds so old school and I dig it. He even got major praise from John Mayer via twitter which is, uh, good. I guess. Just give it a listen. Make sure you get through more than one song and then you’ll be hooked.

The XX- I know I mentioned this one before, but I can’t stop listening to their new album. I love the songs ‘Basic Space’ and ‘Night Time’. If you can find the live radio edit of ‘Night Time’, it’s even better than the album version.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, my office is administering flu shots today and I’m not missing out on that. Get out of my office.
